Radiant Heat
Radiant heating systems can be used in flooring and roof barriers. If you are planning to build a new home, a radiant heating system should be considered.
Radiant Heat Flooring (Hydronic System): Radiant heat is used to make the floor warm in winters. It is an efficient way of getting warmth, not only ‘when’ it is required, but also ‘where’ it is required.
Radiant heat has a rich history. The Romans used this flooring for heating villas and baths by directing hot gases from fires beneath stone slab floors over 2000 years ago. In the early 20th century, heated water replaced the gas. Around 30 years ago, PEX tubes replaced the steel and copper pipes.
Today’s radiant systems are fast responding and energy efficient. PEX tubes are laid out and stapled on an insulating mat (Insul-Tarp). Then, a layer of welded wire fabric is placed on the top of these tubes and covered by flooring. This type of system can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, saunas and spas. One advantage of a hydronic system is that it can be used for both radiant heating and cooling.
Electric Radiant Heating System: As the name suggests, this system works on electricity rather than gas. Electric pads are used to heat the floors of rooms, bathrooms and kitchens. In addition, it can also be installed in the walls and ceilings. The main advantage of an electric radiant heat system is that it can be installed in existing houses more easily than hydronic systems.
Radiant Heat Driveways and Roof Barriers: Radiant heat also can be used for melting snow on driveways and roofs. Heated cables melt the ice, so that no snow is accumulated there.
Radiant Heat Sidewalks: With a radiant system, you will never need a shovel or rock salt for getting rid of the snow on your walk way again. The high efficient heated cables from Superior HVAC Systems will give you the comfort you want, no matter what the weather is outside.
