Humidifiers
Humidity is the amount of moisture in the air. Do you know what the ideal humidity level for your home is? It is from 30 to 50%. Humidifiers let you control the level of humidity.
In winters, moisture seems to vanish from the air. By simply adding moisture to the atmosphere, humidifiers relieve you from problems like dry lips, dry throat and scratchy skin. Humidifiers can also help prevent various health issues like colds and allergies as well as reduce static electricity.
There are a variety of humidifiers available, based on the water capacity, size and reserve area. Humidifiers can be valuable in both homes as well as various industries.
Cool Mist Humidifiers: When a humidifier uses a wick filter to blow water, it is known as a cool mist humidifier. It is also known as evaporative humidifier, as the water mist evaporates into air to add humidity to it.
Warm Mist Humidifiers: When a humidifier heats the water before sending it into the air, it is called a warm mist humidifier. These humidifiers make less noise and can also be used as a medication dispenser. It does not require filters, but requires more energy in order to heat the water.
Furnace Humidifiers: These humidifiers are installed in the furnace. They are used to humidify the entire house at once. While they have a high initial cost, in the long run, they require less annual maintenance.
Tabletop Humidifiers/Room Humidifiers/Mobile Humidifiers: As the name suggests, these are small in size and facilitate humidification in particular rooms.
Industrial Humidifiers: Certain industries require specific levels of humidity. For example, art galleries, museums and antique dealers need moisture control to save the artifacts from decaying. Excess dryness or excess humidity can destroy a valuable piece. Similarly, in industries like automotive, tobacco, healthcare, printing, timber and textile, the need for humidity varies for performing various functions and keeping operations running smoothly.
Humidistat: A humidistat is used to measure and control relative humidity. It is important to keep a check on the level of humidity. A relatively higher humidity will facilitate the growth of bacteria and moulds, leading to various health issues; a relatively lower humidity can also lead to health problems.
Maintenance: Humidifiers, especially cool mist humidifiers, need to be maintained through routine replacement of filters and professional servicing.
